a recurring thing in Nimona is that the people are so brainwashed they’re ready to believe any narrative regardless of how little sense it makes under even the slightest scrutiny
like people hated Ballister from the jump for being a commoner… despite that the majority of them are commoners themselves. and his story is well-publicized, he wanted so desperately to be a knight and to protect the Kingdom, and he was given that chance, spent years training… only to then blow it all on the day he would’ve achieved that dream on a very public assassination? it doesn’t actually make sense when you think about it for more than a minute
and we see it again later - Ambrosius buys into the Director’s lie about Nimona impersonating her despite that he found Ballister’s sword in her office, and he never once thinks to question why Nimona would even need to frame Ballister in such an elaborate way (if she’s this so-called monster, why not just impersonate him and do it that way. or, if she is indeed Gloreth’s monster, why wait 1000 years to do anything? and why do something as small-scale as ‘bust a guy out of prison and only really cause property damage and minor injury’? or hell, why would Nimona purposely frame Ballister and then impersonate the Director to try and clear his name?)
faith in the Institute is so ingrained that no one is ever inclined to think or question anything; just do what the people in charge of you tell you, believe what they tell you to believe, and we won’t have a problem
i’m going to keep it real with you tumblr userbase… if we don’t want tumblr as we know it completely ruined you’re probably going to have to flood tumblr on the app store with 1-star reviews. we need to make their ANALYTICS hurt. we need to make management scared. we need to explain in those reviews exactly why we are mad. say what we don’t want changed (or do want changed back). i am so serious.
